2 years after my last small painting, I have started 10 more

Life sometimes deals you a strange hand. Over the last 2 years since I last posted a small landscape, many things have happened in my life. I went back to playing music in band after 10 years, family members have passed away, and thought processes have changed.

Recently, a woman on the East Coast of the US got in contact with me, and decided that she wanted to buy one of my works. This small act was the catalyst to get me back into the mindset of a painter. For too long I have been focusing on "just getting ahead" in the daily grind, that I nearly forgot just how important art is to the society and the world as a whole.

Art is communication; Visual Art is communication on one of the higher levels. I have always felt that no matter what else I do in life, it all comes back to painting and illustration.

This series of 10 small landscapes continues my Los Angeles series of works. These will be different views of the city from different places and at different times of the day. I have always wanted to do more scenes of LA at night, but I never got to create them.

In the coming weeks, these works will dominate my blog until I can get the city and all of its contradictions, hopes, dreams, and failures, people, sounds, colors, and lights out of my mind.

Los Angeles is like a character in a play-but this character has no beginning or end. It is a continuous force pulling and pushing all of the players around and within it for better or worse. The major landmarks are personal traits that help you to recall specific moments in time or personal feelings...

This may never happen totally, but I really feel it is time to get this out of my mind and onto the panels.
